DAY 18

01/29/2026

VERSES TO READ:

  • Psalm 34:18
  • Isaiah 41:10
  • Romans 8:28
  • Job 13:15
  • Proverbs 3:5-6

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

  1. What area of my life am I struggling to fully trust God with right now, and what would it look like to surrender it to Him?
  2. How has God been faithful to me in past seasons, and how can remembering that strengthen my trust in this one?
  3. What am I believing about God’s character in the middle of my trial, and does that belief line up with Scripture?

PRAYER TO PRAY:

Dear Jesus, thank You for being a God of comfort. Help us to remember You always, not just when times are good. Thank You for the trials we go through in life as they bring us closer to You and teach us more about ourselves and how to follow You more closely. Please help us to feel You near us during whatever storm we may be enduring. Trusting You is not always easy, but You tell us that You will carry us through whatever we are going through if we give it to You. Thank You for that and all your promises. Amen.

It’s inevitable. Life deals us moments that shake our faith and leave us wondering if we can weather the storm. During these times, hope can feel distant, and everything around us can seem as though it’s falling apart. Whether it’s loss, a health crisis, financial strain, or personal trials, these seasons can feel unbearable. Yet even in the darkest moments, we must be willing to trust God.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted. He is not a distant observer but a loving Father who walks with us, offering comfort, strength, and the assurance that He will never leave us.

Trusting God in painful seasons requires a shift in perspective. It’s easy to fixate on our problems, but God invites us to look beyond the storm and hold to His promises, including those in Isaiah 41:10. His presence, strength, and help are always available.

Trust means acknowledging that His ways are higher than ours. We may not understand our trials, but Romans 8:28 assures us that God works through every circumstance for His purpose. Even when we can’t see it happening, He is working behind the scenes. He is not pacing Heaven trying to figure out our situation—He already has the plan. Trusting Him means believing His will is unfolding even when it doesn’t make sense.

One of Scripture’s strongest examples of trust is Job. Job experienced unimaginable suffering: he lost his wealth, his health, and his family. His friends doubted and criticized him, and even his wife told him to curse God and die. Yet in the midst of his agony, Job declared, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him…” (Job 13:15a). His faith didn’t rest on what he saw or felt, but on who God is. Job’s story reminds us that even in deep pain, we can choose—by an act of our will—to trust God’s goodness and sovereignty.

Trusting God also involves surrendering control. In trials, we often try to fix things ourselves, but trust means placing our lives in His capable hands and saying, “Lord, I don’t have the answers, but I trust You to guide me.”

It’s human to ask “Why?” But even when we don’t know the reason, we do know the answer to “Who?”. Who will help, love, guide, strengthen, protect, and comfort us? God will. Trusting Him acknowledges that He is bigger than our problems and that His love never fails. Trust doesn’t remove pain—it ensures we never face it alone. God uses our struggles to shape us and often equips us to help others who will one day need our testimony.

When we trust God in the hardest seasons, we aren’t simply enduring the storm—we are being transformed by it. Our faith grows, our dependence deepens, and we learn to experience His peace that surpasses understanding.

So in your hardest moments, choose to trust God. He has provided salvation through Jesus Christ and given the Holy Spirit as our comforter. Lean into His presence, hold to His promises, and know that He is right there with you—and He will carry you through. Every time. Without fail.
